Yay, I am done my new blog set-up. What do you think? I am going to add some more pictures to the header soon (then it is functions as a rotating header!) but otherwise I think I’ve got it pretty much finished, I even have my old site address pointing at this one, so I should be easy to find.
I had paid someone to set up my business blog for me, but I’m really glad I took the plunge now and figured out how to really use wordpress. I’m know it’s a continuous learning process, but at least I know a lot more know than when I started. I took a couple of books out of my library to help me - Blogging for Dummies and Wordpress for Dummies. They were both helpful, although the Blogging book is really aimed at true beginners to the blogging world and the Wordpress book is a little out of date (but a new one appears to be scheduled for November).
The hardest part of the process was choosing a theme I really liked and that worked for me. I wanted a widget friendly, highly-customizable theme. I love colour so originally I was looking for anything that wasn’t white, but this atahualpa theme actually really impressed me when I finally tried it. It’s a free theme that I got from the wordpress site.
So now I’m definitely not a blogging “dummy” and am ready to get busy posting to this blog. I’m planning to post at least 3 times a week so stay tuned for my updates!
