I was in labour with my second baby boy. I actually thought, for the first several hours, that labour wasn’t so bad. It got worse of course but I was so excited to be having my baby! The only really scary part for me was facing the possibility of a c-section AFTER labouring all that time. After 2.5 hours of pushing the doctor used a vacuum to assist him out that last little bit and my sweet Xan was born.
Ok, well he is sweet but he’s also my most challenging child so far! He’s loving and affectionate but he’ll hit the baby on the head for no reason occasionally and he loves to push his big brother’s buttons. He’s got tons and tons of energy (although not quite as much as his lovely cousin Lex does!) He’s really grown up this year in so many ways – for one he is literally growing so fast! He’s almost as tall as big boy Izzy already. His speech is so good now (except for a cute little lisp that only a mother would even notice), and he’s learning the alphabet and his numbers a bit. I’m not too pushy about learning yet though – maybe later this year!
Everyone tells you time will fly with your children and they’ll be grown up before you know it. Sometimes in that first year of motherhood (which I’m of course in yet again with Baby Soy) you feel like it will never fly by because it’s dragging by so slowly! And yet here we are, Izzy is in grade one soon and in only one short year my darling Xan is going to kindergarten.
I think it will be an interesting year – without his brother for company and no preschool (longish story – will save it for another post!) the days may drag a little. Xan and Izzy are both signed up for soccer though and will also take swimming lessons again soon. Hopefully we can also have some playdates too!
